Nosing and Tasting Evening featuring a 'GlenAllachie Distillery' presented by Karen McWilliam 4 Sep 19

We had an excellent turnout for this vertical tasting from the GlenAllachie Distillery.  Billy Walker has done another master stroke in transforming whisky destined for the blended whisky market by re-casking into a variety of different casks. Karen gave  masterful presentation of 5 different expressions from the various ranges which included:

The Winner of the blind nosing competition was Manon Milbeyue from France who has been working in Dufftown over the summer and has attended nearly all the tastings during the Summer.

Nosing and Tasting Evening featuring a 'Strathisla Distillery and Chivas Regal' presented by Alice and Jodie 28 Aug 19

We had a disappointing attendance for this nosing and tasting evening  Apparently, a group of Whisky Theologians were visiting Dufftown from the US and had taken the moajority of the accommodation.  They had a full event programme which didn't include our Nosing and Tasting! A select group of guests from Switwerland and Denmark togther with some regular attenders enjoyed the Chivas Regal experience with Alice from Strathisla. The tasting included:

This was a a wonderful opportunity to de-construct Chivas Regal blended whisky and was a unique opprtunity to sample a single grain whisky. The tasting comprised:

The second nosing and tasting evening was presented by Steve Oliver.  Building of the Speyside railway line, now the Speyside Way commenced in 1840.  The main purpose was to haul timber from Lord Seafield's estates around Grantown on Spey.  The whisky entrepreneurs soon realised that the logisitcs of the embrionic Whisky Indusrty could be met by the Railway.  Distilleries grew up along the Railway wherever there was a good spring water source and cooling water. Some were built right on the Railway, Tamdhu, Knockando and Imperial.  Others were connected to the railway line by a branch line, Dailauine and Balmenach. The whiskies featured in the tasting were:
