Ronnie Cox, Director of The Glenrothes and Cutty Sark International did a exceptional presentation of a selection of GlenRothes malts. The large audience from all over Europe and the USA enjoyed the drams and the winner of the Nosing Competition was Danny Van Zon from The Netherlands. Mike Patterson, Sales Executive of Gordon & MacPhail presented a selection of great whiskies to the near full capacity audience. After a short speech about the owners of the company and the distillery, we had a great tasting. The winner of the nosing competition was Peter Struyk from the Netherlands who won a Benromach 10yo here being presented the bottle by Mike.
Antonia Bruce of the Adelphi Distillery in Ardnamurchan brought along a superb selection of great single casks malts. A large audience enjoyed these great drams and the winner of the Nosing Competition was Chris Jameson from Dufftown. James is shown here receiving a superb bottle of single cask malt from Antonia.
A near full house was waiting for Iain Allan, Visitor Center Manager from Moray Distillery. He introduced great single malts including the very latest Glen Moray at 60.4% Burgundy Wood 10yo now available at the distillery. The visitors from all over Europe, USA and Canada enjoyed the drams and the winner of the Nosing Competition was our own Steve Allen. He is here received Glen Moray's Cask Strength bottling from Iain.
Steve Oliver carried out the duties of presenting Diageo's Cardhu Distillery selection, for the 4th N&T of the season. Those present from as far as Australia and Japan enjoyed the evening, tasting the Cardhu Amber Rock, Select Cask, 12yo, 15yo and 18yo. The first Nosing & Tasting evening in Dufftown in 2016 was to celebrate Whisky Month. We introduced 5 single malts from the Dufftown distillery to the 23 strong audience, notably: Dufftown Spey Cascade, Firetail & Sunray and the 12 & 15yo. It was very difficult to differentiate the whiskies but the winner of the competition was Per Forsberg from Sweden seen here being given a bottle of Glenfiddich 12yo by Gordon Haughton.
Jennifer Proctor, Brand Ambassador of the distillery brought along a splendid selection of The Snow Phoenix, the 1963 Original, 12, 15 and the new IPA and Project XX malt whiskies. The visitors were very impressed with the drams and the winner of the Nosing Competition was Hugh Kirkpatrick from the USA. This was the last N&T of 2016 and we would like to thank all the distilleries and Independent Bottlers for their support and hope for their continuing support next year.
In absence of David Mair, Brand Ambassador of The Balvenie, Gordon did a spendid presentation of Balvenie for the 24 visitors - the Double Wood 12yo, DW 17yo, Caribbean Cask 14yo and the Portwood 21yo. The Nosing Competition winner from Austria is shown here receiving a special bottling from Warehouse 24.
Boa Andersson from Strathisla distillery and Claire Couttie from Glenlivet distilleries presented a great selection of cask strength malts. The audience enjoyed all the drams and the Nosing competition was again won by a Scot, Jamie Little here presented with his prize from Boa.
During the first Nosing & Tasting in August this year Callum Purcell, Warehouse Manager from BenRiach brought along great single malts. All malts ere well enjoyed by the full house of oversees visitors. The winner of the blind nosing competition was Nele Van Den Broeck from Belgium. Unfortunately this picture went missing. Apologies to the winner.
The Nosing & Tasting Evening on 20th July was sponsored by Tomintoul Distillery. Andrew Sim, Production Manager gave the audience a taste of what they call "the Gentle Dram". He brought along Tomintoul 10yo, 12yo Oloroso finish, 15yo Port Wood finish at 46%, the 16yo and Old Ballantruan, the 50% peated malt. The winners of the nosing competition after a Nose-off was Jurgen Wunsch from Germany here being given a bottle of 16yo Tomintoul by Andrew. PS: Jurgen was also a winner of a Nosing competition in 2013 !!
Matthew Porritt, Visitor Centre Manager of Glenfarclas did a splendid presentation of 5 great malts from the distillery, talking about the whiskies, the distilling process and the Grant Family. This Nosing & Tasting was also to celebrate Whisky Month. He also brought along a new bottling; Glenfarclas - £511.9s (which was the amount paid for the land on which the distillery was built). The near full-house audience loved every minute of the evening and the winner was Mrs Louise Thomas from England here seen with Matthew and her prize a bottle of Glenfarclas 105.
After a 5 week break Dufftown 2000 Ltd started it's Summer season of Tastings with Murray McDavid Independent Bottlers from Coleburn Distillery. Fred Allen, Warehouse Manager and a Dufftown local Loon, brought along a great selection of Murray McDavid superb single malts, blended malts and a very good blended whisky. A great time was had by all and the winner of the Nosing competition was Tracey McKibben from Australia seen here receiving a bottle of whisky from Fred.
